The big day is finally back. Tomorrow is National Seersucker Day.
The celebration of all things seersucker will happen after Bill Cassidy, a Republican member of Congress from Louisiana, unveiled a congressional proclamation declaring: “With a rich history dating back to 1909, seersucker clothing is a unique American fashion. I encourage everyone to wear seersucker to commemorate this iconic American clothing.”
Of course, this is simply a proclamation — it doesn’t carry the force of law — by a single congressman who just happens to be from Louisiana, the home of Haspel, the suitmaker best known for seersucker.
Seersucker day was a weekly tradition for some on Capitol Hill until it fell by the wayside back in 2012.
Just don't tell the Missouri politician who has tried banning those over the age of eight from wearing seersucker about National Seersucker Day.
