Sold under the private label of the Canadian department store Hudson’s Bay, the coat ($950; available here and here) is based off the company’s legendary point blankets that have been bought and sold since the days of empire, when Hudson’s Bay operated trading posts in far-flung colonial outposts in British North America.
It may not be dressy enough to wear during the week in the city, but the coat, made in America by Pendleton, is perfect for a trip to the grocery store or coffeehouse on an early Saturday winter morning.
