Crombie: Moving beyond #awesome coats

For many the name Crombie is synonymous with a Chesterfield or covert, the iconic British coats that hang in the closets of discerning gentlemen everywhere.

It’s true that Crombie is best known for its coats, but the brand has expanded operations over the past year to include a very high-end made-to-measure service that offers nearly unlimited options.

That isn’t to say coats are an afterthought — on the contrary, just look at the covert coat (£795 or approximately $1,298; available here) pictured below. You really can't find a more gorgeous coat than this.

Just because Crombie's made-to-measure service is an unlikely option for many readers on this side of the Atlantic doesn't mean the brand is limited to sartorial idolatry.

The off-the-rack range is perfect for those who can’t make a pilgrimage to the flagship store on Conduit Street in London.

One can purchase a fully canvassed suit with the fine tailoring and impeccable quality of Savile Row bespoke for the same price as a Chinese-made, half-canvas suit sold by department stores and luxury brands.

An example is the stunning navy herringbone suit (£895 or $1,439; available here) pictured above.

Not only is this suit an exceptional value, but the styling is perfect for the young attorney or banker who wants to dress sharply without being flamboyant, which is never a good thing for those entrusted with someone else’s money or legal affairs.
