Dressing in style without suffering in the warm weather

Temperatures were well above 85 degrees while this correspondent was in Amsterdam earlier this month.

The scorching weather can make dressing with style difficult, as one is naturally inclined to eschew the tailored look for something casual, such as a pair of shorts.

Yet shorts were largely invisible from the streets of Amsterdam. Instead, several stylish chaps were seen wearing lighter colors in cotton and linen.

  1. I think no. 3 and 4 (old man in light beige cotton trousers and open-neck, rolled up shirt, and young guy on bike) have the classic relaxed-yet-stylish summer-in-the-city look. However, the guy on the bike should learn how to tuck his shirt in.
