The chap pictured above, Ted Woodcock, was seen on the streets of Traverse City, Michigan, on a summer afternoon with the temperature well above 80 degrees.
Overall, it's a decent warm weather casual look, though some may frown upon a grown man wearing shorts in the city.
In line with what preppy collegians are wearing today, this look is very similar to what contemporaries of his grandfather wore when captured on ivy-covered campuses for the seminal "Take Ivy" book.
Two improvements would be a shirt with a bit of color or pattern and a different belt — perhaps a ribbon belt in regimental stripes.
