Benson & Clegg hosting drinks reception; 3/2 roll jacket available

Editor's note — This is part of a continuing Pinstripes and Tweed series on custom clothing

Benson & Clegg made two announcements yesterday in advance of its trip to Washington next week.

The London-based tailor will throw what it calls a “drinks reception and sartorial evening” on June 27 — a week from tomorrow — at Sterling & Burke in Georgetown from 5 to 9 p.m.

Tony Martin, one of Benson & Clegg’s cutters, will also be giving a demonstration on how to properly tie a Windsor knot.

Perhaps the biggest news was confirmation that jackets with soft shoulders and a three-roll-two lapel are now available in its recommended made-to-measure service.

This classic Ivy-style look was previously only available in bespoke, which isn’t practical unless one lives in London or visits often because of required multiple fittings.
