The best of Lands' End

This is one of those transitional times of the year, when the calendar doesn't always match the weather outside.

In some parts of the country, summer — officially some six-plus weeks away — has arrived with temperatures only getting warmer between now and September. At the same time, other places, including here in Michigan, are only now getting seasonable weather with temperatures somewhere between the 60s and lower 70s.

As a result, some stellar deals can be had, especially at Lands’ End, which at present has a promotional offer of 40 percent off regularly priced merchandise

This knit necktie ($39.99; available here) is perfect for summer weddings. It can be paired with everything from a navy blazer to summer-weight suits and sport jackets.

While from the summer 2012 collection, a madras sport jacket never goes out of style. Cut in the slimmer tailored-fit, sizes 38, 40 and 42 are still available ($124.99; available here).

A tweed belt paired with go-to-hell corduroy pants — ideally with some sort of motif — is perfect for an autumn weekend or the college football tailgate party ($19.99; available here).

Club collar shirts have been trending for a couple seasons and won’t be going anywhere soon, especially with the forthcoming release of “The Great Gatsby.” This particular shirt ($24.99; available here) comes in a tailored-fit and would be perfect with the knit necktie.

Another overstock from the autumn 2012 collection, this herringbone jacket ($99.99; available here) is perfect for when temperatures cool down in September. It would also be great for those planning a summer getaway to the Highlands of Scotland. The jacket can also worn as a suit with matching pants ($74.99; available here).
