From horses to pubs: The evolution of hacking and sport jackets

A Hume, the clothier located in the quaint Scottish Borders town of Kelso near the appropriately named River Tweed, published a short backgrounder on the hacking jacket that's worth the read.


Both hacking jackets and sport jackets — the subject of A Hume's next article — have made the transition from being functional and purpose-designed articles of clothing to what many gentlemen would wear out to the pub with their special lady or to church on Sunday.
