Crombie launches made-to-measure service

Editor's note — This is part of a continuing Pinstripes and Tweed series on custom clothing

While it is hard to imagine London without its Savile Row-inspired bespoke culture, the reality of the matter is that bespoke is not an option for most discerning gentlemen.

Realizing this Crombie recently launched its made-to-measure service.

Unlike the made-to-measure services of competitors, which typically rely on low-cost Oriental manufacturing, Crombie is making the jackets in the United Kingdom — a major selling point for many would-be customers.

As a result, the beginning price point of £2,300 (approximately $3,500) is significantly higher than competitors, including internet-based tailors.

Crombie’s made-to-measure has what seems to be an almost unlimited number of possibilities, including a range of 400 cloths, 28 choices of under-collar melton and 15 different jacket linings.
