Brooks Brothers will open one of its Flat Iron shops in Ann Arbor later this year, AnnArbor.com reports today.
The store is aimed at capturing the disposable income of collegians at the University of Michigan, which is regularly considered one of the country's so-called public ivy schools.
Debuted a couple of years as a way for the brand to attract a new generation of customer, the Flat Iron shops are similar in concept to the new York Street venture from J. Press as well as the defunct Rugby Ralph Lauren brand.
While there's no doubt Ann Arbor has a lot of prospects for Brook Brothers, one would think a store in the New Center neighborhood of Detroit — or at least in downtown Ann Arbor and not in what appears to be a glorified strip mall — would be more fitting.
